Master Angler Trophy Walleye Fishing in Canada
For the past several years Garden Island Lodge has been recognized by most fishing experts as the leading trophy walleye destination in Ontario, Canada. Just about every lodge in Ontario claims to have the best trophy walleye fishing but we prove it. It might also surprise many people that Lady Evelyn is also an incredibly hot destination for trophy smallmouth bass and northern pike as well. We have given many trophy angler awards over the years in order to recognize our Garden Island anglers' success on big walleye, smallmouth bass and northern pike. Here are a couple of our programs that go to prove what a spectacular lake Lady Evelyn has become!
Big Fish Board: Guests are asked to record their fish on the Big Fish Board when they release walleye 18" and over, northern pike over 27" and smallmouth bass 17". Each fish recorded on the board gets one ballot in the free trip drawing at the end of each season.
Big Fish Board Catch-&-Release Free Trip Contest: Every time a guest registers a catch-&-release fish on the Big Fish Board, he/she gets one ballot for our lodge's fishing contest. In the fall after the lodge is closed, we draw one name and the winner will receive a free fishing trip for two at Garden Island lodge.
Every week we have our Big Fish Board hanging in the supply shed located at the docks so that guests can add their catches during the week. We encourage guests to add each fish that measures above - walleye (18 inches), smallmouth bass (17 inches) and norhern pike (27 inches). This helps us keep track of our guest's success. Although it isn't mandatory we also really appreciate when guests take pictures and allow us to use them on our fishing reports, website and Facebook page. We have seen the average size of these released fish increase dramatically over the past 20 years and are highly appreciative when our customers release these fish. It means that we all get to enjoy them again year after year and it keeps our breeding fish making even more trophies! For your convenience we even provide a ruler in our boats to help you keep track.
